3 Weeks Ahead (Day 179)

Last Friday I had a doctor’s appointment. It was the first 2 week check up I’ve went to. You know – after a certain point you start going every 2 weeks instead of every 4 weeks. It made me realize that it’s getting towards the end – kind of made me nervous.

I was nervous to step on the scale. That’s always my least favorite part. I was shocked to find out I had gained five pounds in two weeks. I’ve weighed myself since then and it’s stayed the same. I hope it stays that way! My regular doctor wasn’t there that day so I saw the mid wife Anna. I like her – I’ve only seen her twice (counting this time).

Well – first off she talked about my sugar test. I knew I passed – but I didn’t know what else she needed to tell me. Turns out after the second hour my sugar plummeted. So I have low blood sugar instead of high blood sugar – I don’t know if that’s a good thing or a bad thing. She said that basically if I don’t eat for a few hours and start to feel dizzy I should eat something sweet. I asked her about my iron (because I’ve been diagnosed as anemic) and she said it was fine. Good news there! Hey – I guess eating sweets when I need to is a good thing to right?! :D

Anyway – Anna had me lay down on the table and she measured my belly. It was the first time I had been measured and I was kind of excited about it. I am measuring three weeks ahead. So instead of 30 weeks I am measuring 33 weeks. I asked her what that meant and she said it could just mean that Keira is a little bigger than what she should be at this time. I looked it up and how they measure is in centimeters. She wasn’t that concerned about it – so I figured I shouldn’t be either. She did say that it was a possibility that she could come early – I wouldn’t mind that really (as long as she’s healthy)!

There is one other thing I asked her about. I have a blood blister on my leg – gross yea sorry. So I asked her about it because it’s been there for about two weeks. So – I mentioned it and she wanted to see so I showed her. It is NOT a blood blister. She said it’s basically a spot where the blood vessels in my leg have come together and come to the surface and that it will always be there unless I have it removed. It’s small like a mechanical pencil eraser small.

Bummer.

BUT – she did say that my OB could do it after he delivers Keira – that I would just have to mention it to him since it’s not you know – in his line of sight. She said all he would do is give me a local, cut it out/off and give me a few stitches and I’d be good to go. I just have to remember to tell him about it. That’s what I’m afraid I will forget!!! I don’t want it to stay there and well – I guess I will just have to write it on my hand to remind him so I don’t forget about it!

Were you ever told you were measuring ahead? Did your little pea come early?

xo – S.J.

PS: Here is a hint of what we are going to be doing within the next week! I am SO excited!! Picture from Pinterest here.
